Chemistry department comments:

Use the WebReg add/drop system for adds, drops, and changes until Friday, October 10, 2008.

NO ADDS OR CHANGES ALLOWED AFTER THE 2ND WEEK.

NO DROPS ALLOWED AFTER THE 2ND WEEK IN LOWER DIVISION CHEMISTRY COURSES.

THE UPPER DIVISION COURSES WILL CONTINUE WITH THE NO DROPS AFTER 6TH WEEK POLICY.

NO LAB CHANGES AFTER WEEK 1.

The WebReg waitlist option is de-activated for undergraduate labs on the first day of classes.

PREREQUISITES:

Can't access Chemistry courses? Have transfer credit for a Chem course? Fax, email, or bring a copy of your transcript to the Chemistry Undergraduate Program Office in NS2 1101, in order to clear the prerequisite prior to your enrollment. Always include your ID number and name on any documentation you submit for verification. You may also be asked to provide a course syllabus.

Courses with corequisites may require you to add the corequisite requirement before adding the course.

If you don't meet the prerequisites for the course, you will be dropped from the course by the Chemistry Department.

STUDENTS WITH AP CREDIT:

Have a score of 3 or lower on the AP Chemistry exam? You are required to take the Chemistry Placement test.

ARE YOU ENROLLING IN SUMMER SESSION OR IN AN EQUIVALENT AT ANOTHER SCHOOL?

Fax or bring a copy of your Summer Session enrollment confirmation to the Chemistry Undergraduate Office in NS2 1101 in order to clear the prerequisite prior to enrolling in fall quarter 2008. A copy of your transcript is required once the summer session course is completed.

REPEAT STUDENTS:

You will not have access to the Chemistry courses you wish to repeat when your enrollment window initially opens. The following policy applies:

Only one repeat of a Chemistry course is allowed during the academic year. Can't advance to the next course? Enroll at the adjustment period starting Thursday, September 18, 2008, at 7 am. Receive a C-? Enroll on the first day of classes, Thursday, September 25, 2008.

IMPORTANT LABORATORY INFORMATION:

1) Safety glasses and lab aprons are required. You must bring these items to your first laboratory session. If you do not attend your first laboratory session, you will receive a zero grade for that week and lose your space in the section.

3) A NON-REFUNDABLE $50.00 lab fee will be added to your Zot bill starting at 5pm on Friday at the end of the first week of classes, October 3, 2008. If you switch sections during the first week of classes, be sure you officially change your enrollment before 5pm on October 3, 2008; otherwise, you will be double-billed for the lab fee. No lab fee reversals will be considered after the quarter ends.

4) University Extension students enrolled in a laboratory course do not pay the $50.00 lab fee.

Non-Majors restrictions for upper division courses will be lifted 48 hours after the last fall quarter enrollment window opens. (There may be exceptions to this policy. Check WebSoc.)

Concurrent enrollment is REQUIRED for chemistry courses. Enroll in a Chemistry lecture, a discussion associated with that lecture, a Chemistry laboratory, and a laboratory lecture or lab discussion when applicable. (Exception: Unless otherwise stated or if you have prior credit for lecture or laboratory) Attendance for week 1 is mandatory.
